THRIVER

Alexis Brewer's survival rests solely in her trembling, inexperienced hands.

A vicious break up with her high school's quarterback leaves sixteen year-old Lex isolated and with no real friends. Even her widowed father, who channeled his grief into a prodigious military career, doesn’t notice the bruises on her arms. Or the terror that stalks her. In order to move forward, she makes the only choice she can—hide her abuse from everyone.

Lex knows her plan is far from foolproof, but she must break free from the violence holding her hostage to find some kind of peace.

The problem is, she may not remain alive long enough to do it.

THE BROKEN

Born into a family of Guardians—extraordinarily gifted humans who battle demons to protect mortal souls—seventeen year old Rose Kazin shows no signs of being blessed with the supernatural talents her family has used for generations to fight.

When she and her father figure, an age old celestial Warrior, are horribly wounded in a demonic ambush, Rose awakens to find a younger Warrior, Ouriel, has volunteered to stand in as her protector.

She rails against his presence, but Ouriel seems interested in only one thing—teaching Rose how to protect herself from the demons she was never supposed to fight.

THE BROKEN is one you will want to keep on your shelf to read over and over again.

I think Joseph has a real winner here.  I, for one, am hungrily looking forward to the next one in the series.
